Wind Down With Tropical Elixir

Description

Vincent Wulf drove down the coastal road after enduring a conference meeting. Though usually long, tedious and mind-numbingly dull, this particular conference ended in a small-scale riot as some of the participants' opinions conflicted and other took sides. Vincent chose to instead slip away instead of taking a side. He was fortunate enough to escape without any bruises. now he's  looking forward for a little visit to the beach to recover from the whole ordeal.

His car came to a stop in the mostly vacant parking lot. Because it was a weekday, beach goers are less common during this time. Aside from the faint voices of the few people around, only the gentle waves and the coastal wind could be heard. These are the sounds that never fail to bring tranquility to Vincent's mind.

One of the few beach goers that were to be found at this hour crossed his sight. A human wearing a white tank top, dark grey shorts and a red cap. In her hand was a glass of white coconut milk. Seeing this, Vincent was reminded of his own thirst. Narrowly escaping a riot can be parching, after all. That glass seemed freshly made. There must be a stand nearby.

It didn't take too much effort to find aforementioned stand. A tiki bar, just a few yards away to Vincent's right. Two other bystanders were seated around the stand. Vincent could see the bartender quite clearly. Looks like a rather burly-looking dinosaur wearing a red Hawaiian shirt and summer hat. His back was turned.

As Vincent approached the bar, the other bystanders walked away, leaving empty glasses on the table. He looked up to the bartender, who hadn't seem to notice him.

"Excuse me, sir," Vincent called. "Can I have a glass of of your finest serving, please?"

"Right away, amigo," the bartender replied with a strangely feminine voice.

"Y-you're a girl!" Vincent retorted, surprised.

The dinosaur turned to face him. She looked at him with bright red eyes. Her silver hair formed a bang that covered the left side of her face.

"Of course I am," She replied. She then loomed over him and displayed her rather fearsome-looking claws. "Did you just assume my gender..?"

Intimidated, Vincent said nothing. The dinosaur then chuckled and eased up.

"I'm kidding, I'm kidding!" She said jokingly. "Everyone makes that mistake. I don't mind anymore."

Vincent nervously laughed along.

As the bartender grabs a glass from the cabinet behind her, she said, "I'll get your drink ready in a jiffy." She then crouched down to fill up the glass from a dispenser under the crescent-shaped table. After a few seconds, she stood back up with a glass filled with an orange liquit, decorated with a little umbrella.

Vincent can't help but notice those unsettlingly large claws of hers, and how she did her work with them. Must be difficult. Lots of practise, he reckoned.

As she handed him the glass, she took the opportunity to introduce herself.

"My name's Gabriel Walkins, but my friends just call me Gabby. You're not from around here, are you? I don't remember meeting any sharks before."

"Yeah, I'm not from around here," Vincent replied after he took a sip from the refreshing drink. "Came here for a conference, and the meeting became a riot. Narrowly escaped myself... I'm Vincent, by the way."

"Aloha," Gabby replied. "A riot, you say? It's good yoou got out of there in one peace. I can see that you're still a bit shaken from it, thought.

"Yeah..." Vincent responded, chuckling.

"Is that why you stopped here?" Gabby asked. "To relax your nerves?"

"Yep."

Gabby looks off into the ocean as she said, "The beach is a magical place. The threshold between land and sea. There is history within the sand for those willing to look for it. The ocean kisses the land and provide respite from the heat."

"I know that," Vincent replied. "I've had some experiences myself." He finished the glass and placed it on the table, along with a small payment. "Well, I better get going."

"Hey hey, not so fast, hombre," said Gabby. "You don't have any reason to be in such a rush, do you?"

Now that she's mention it, there really isn't any reason for Vincent to leave in a hurry. Dianna's not expecting him back in an hour so soon.

"No. I guess not," he replied.

"Then why not stay here for a while and enjoy the day? The finer things in nature should never go unappreciated, after all!"

"...I guess you're right."

Do you guys remember Gabby? I've decided to keep her. She now belongs to me, but resides in the tales of a friend of mine. Said friend makes a guest star in this piece. I should probably write more, but I expended much of my word-processing abilities writing the little story without any planned plot.

Vincent belongs to Vincent-Wullf

Gabby now belongs to me.

I'm bettin' 8 to 10 of my sack hair that Gabby lied to Vincent and already saw at least one shark in her life!
I mean... no sharks... at the beach?!
